Moonshine, Whiskey & Tennessee

My boyfriend Doug and I were taking a long road trip this weekend to Indiana to see his family, and we took the opportunity to make a quick pit stop in Tennessee. It also happened to be my Boyfriend's Birthday and since moonshine and whiskey are a couple of his favorite things; the stop at Ole Smoky Distillery on 6th Ave. in Nashville was a given.
While Ole Smoky is easily attainable at your local liquor stores or Total Wine there are a few of their specialty flavors that you can only get at their distillery, and the experience at the location is a blast. These specialty flavors were a great excuse to get out and stretch our legs as well as get a chance to celebrate the Birthday guy.
As with all that is happening in our new normal Ole Smoky is following the guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety. The entrance has changed to one way in. As we arrived to the front to get a table we were ushered right in again with good safety measures in place and everyone wearing masks when they needed to.
The food options are "food truck like" and we opted for the tacos from White Duck Taco stand. I recommend the Korean beef bulgogi tacos...they were dericious!
The distillery offers great cocktails, moonshine tastings, and have also partnered with Yee Haw Brewing Company for a great varierty of craft beers. We sat and enjoyed a little food and a cocktail while taking in the atmosphere.
Since needing to get back on the road we were sure to only have a one cocktail, but had to get one fun Birthday shot to share. The Peanut Butter & Jelly shot was the perfect combo...it was a mix of their Peanut Butter Whiskey and their Blackberry Moonshine...oh baby was it good...tasted just like a good ole peanut butter and jelly sandwich. After cashing out the next item on the list was to get some bottles picked out to take home.
As you see on the video below there is no shortage of options or flavors.
They usually have great offers when you buy multiple bottles. They offer a buy 6 pay for 5 deal and an added free blanket or buy 12 pay for 10 deal and an added get a free rolling cooler. Our choice was obvious...so we picked out 12! We walked away with a new favorite which was their Amaretto Whiskey and a classic favorite we can't get in stores in Florida the Some Beach Moonshine.
Thankfully they had a preview of their fall flavor Maple Cream and it came home with us as well.
Overall the mini trip was a success!
We had a great time even though it was short and with all the Covid changes. I am sure it will be nice when some things get back to normal.
While Ole Smoky has several locations their Venue called 6th & Peabody features a distillery, brewery, bars, tasting areas, beer & bottle shops, merchandise, big screen TVs and live entertainment. Unfortunetly not all these options are available at the moment in our current setting, but will be great to visit again when they are able to open everything back up.
Sooo next time you have a visit to the Tennessee area we highly recommend a stop at the Ole Smoky Distillery! Be sure to try those specialty flavors, cocktails and ask for the Peanut Butter & Jelly shot to start your experience!
Cheers,
Hope & Doug
